Today I got a magazine from “Folkeuniversitet” (Community Collage) about the reformation in 1517. In it there was a recipe for pancakes, that looks really lovely. I have not tried it just yet, but it is defiantly on the list of things to try. I thought I would share the recipe with you.
The lovely painting is: The Pancake Bakery by Pieter Aertsen 1560
Pancakes made as it could have been done in the renaissance.
Mix flour and beer in a bowl
Mix in the eggs, sugar, salt and raisins. Add the melted butter
Adjust the consistency of the batter if needed
Fry the pancakes on a small pan (see the picture for the open fire instructions and note the clay pan)
Roast the chopped nuts in a hot dry pan
Serve with liquid honey and the fried nuts
